The secrets of the Indian process for printing these dye-resistant colors using fixing mordants were first revealed to European manufactures around 1760, which became the beginning of a new golden age for French cotton manufacturers, among them the Manufacture Oberkampf de Jouy in France. In the age of illustration, people, animals and plants from exotic places such as China were often used as inspiration. This collection is a tribute to these world-famous decorative motifs.
